Devils Rally to Climb Back Into Series Against Lightning

Hall notched two points in his playoff debut in Game 1 last week, and facing a must-win situation Monday night versus the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Hart Trophy candidate delivered yet another huge performance.

"It's not my first playoff win, it's ours as a group", said Hall, who had a career year in goals, assists and points.

Taylor Hall had a goal and two assists, setting up Stefan Noesen's game-winner with 7:05 play, and the New Jersey Devils scored four times in the third to claw their way back into their first-round series with Tampa Bay on Monday night, beating the Lightning 5-2 in Game 3.

Starter Keith Kinkaid was pulled in the second period of Game 2 after surrendering his fifth goal of the night and ninth of the series, but Schneider shut the door the rest of the way, making 10 saves in what turned out to be a 5-3 loss.

"At the end of the day you give them that many power play chances and then you give them a 5-on-3, it's a good chance they are eventually going to get one", Stamkos said.

The Devils have played well in spurts, overcoming slow starts to keep both games interesting.

On Monday, his team down 2-0 in the series, and 1-0 - and later 2-1 - on the scoreboard, Hall delivered again.

Butcher tied the game after the Lightning were whistled for too many men on the ice. "I'm pretty sure New Jersey is going to do the exact same thing".

Stamkos gave Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead just 38 seconds into the third with a shot from the left circle that squeezed between Schneider's arm and body and dribbled into the net. Logan Couture had a goal and two assists, Joe Pavelski, Evander Kane and Timo Meier scored power-play goals in the third period, for the Sharks, who have outscored the Ducks 14-3 through the first three games of the first-round series.

Eric Fehr and Tomas Hertl added goals later in the second to turn this all-California series into a rout. Kucherov, Tampa Bay's leading scorer this season, has 46 points (24 goals, 22 assists) in 47 career playoff games. He exchanged passes with Hall, took the return feed and sent a shot from near the blue line over Vasilevskiy's stick while Patrick Maroon provided a screen. Hall collected a loose rebound in the high slot and fired a rolling puck past Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.

After the first period, the Devils and Lightning began playing physical, with the refs often stepping in and calling penalties.

Hall could have had more. His final stat line included a.944 save percentage and a timely save against Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh about halfway through the third period.

NOTES: Center J.T. Miller of the Lightning had to leave the ice late in the second period after sustaining a facial cut. It wasn't the greatest start to the game for us, but we hung in there and I think our fans really pushed us over the edge.

Hynes also elected to go with six defensemen instead of the seven he used in Game 2.
