There were 81 vehicles involved, but no one seriously injured, after Tuesday's crash on I-71 which backed up traffic for hours and forced a temporary shutdown of the interstate just after 4 p.m. Several tractor-trailers were involved, with one resting against a guardrail.

The closure was reported shortly after 4pm Tuesday in the northbound lanes of I-71 past State Route 95.

The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash involving 81 vehicles, including 11 commercial motor vehicles. A media release did say there were non-life threatening injuries during the crash.

There are some crashes in the southbound lanes as well, but at 5 p.m., the focus was on clearing the northbound lanes. Minor injuries were reported, but the total number of injuries is unknown.

The snow squall passed through the area in the late afternoon, significantly lowering visibility on the road, reports The Columbus Dispatch.
