South Korea coach anxious Tottenham star Son will 'cool down'

However their still lays a way out for Son to avoid the 21 months military service by obtaining a free pass from his conscription with the Korean government, but as per the South Korean laws, the pass is only valid for athletes who are Olympic medallists or Asian Games gold medallists.

Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-Min Son has been in superb form this season.

According to The Sun, there are exceptions given to sports stars who perform for their country at major tournaments.

Son is therefore likely to receive a free-pass if his country performs well at the World Cup in Russian Federation this summer.

But with that an unlikely scenario - the national team's best effort since co-hosting was reaching the last 16 in 2010 - Son has two other get-out routes.

If South Korea were to win either the 2018 Asian Games or the 2019 Asian Cup the Spurs man could also expect an exemption from duty.

With Son Heung-Min approaching this age, Spurs may face losing one of their best players this season.

They won it in 2014 without Son after his then-club Bayer Leverkusen refused to release him for the tournament in the UAE.

He would miss the first four games of next season if he was included in the squad for the Asian Games.

But the manager would probably see the upside of not losing the attacking midfielder for almost two years as a gamble worth taking.

"Son has scored seven goals in his last four games while the Chilean has found the net just once in nine for United".

"It's nice to see him scoring and he plays such a huge part in the side".

"Sonny is very under-rated".

"He's closing in on 20 goals again and that's something to be delighted with".
