Police in Alabama said a gunman opened fire at the UAB Highlands hospital in Birmingham on Wednesday night, leaving two employees wounded.

Police could not confirm how many people were shot but did say no police officers were injured in the incident. He said one victim was in critical condition with multiple wounds.

The situation is under control at UAB Highlands Hospital, and the shooter is dead after a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Williston.

The episode, WBRC Fox 6 reported, took place on the second floor of the hospital about 7 p.m.
