Poroshenko: My conversation with Putin mostly dealt with Donbas peacekeepers, captive swap

Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine confirmed that he held the phone talk with Vladimir Putting, the President of Russian Federation and discussed the prisoners' exchange and the deployment of the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Donbas with him as Ukrinform reported.

"Our press release made this public, the goal [of the conversation] mainly included two components". The first part concerned what was expressed exactly three years ago, during the signing of the Minsk-2 [agreements] at the beginning of 2015. "We definitely can not stop in our efforts to get our hostages freed, which is actively promoted by both Ms. Iryna [Gerashchenko, Ukraine's representative in the Trilateral Contact Group humanitarian subgroup and Verkhovna Rada first deputy speaker] and my entire team".

In the phone conversation, made by Kiev's initiative, both statesmen referred to the possibility of continuing the exchange of prisoners, begun at the end of last December in the conflictive region of Donbass, said presidential spokesperson, Dmitri Peskov. "I have discussed specific details - lists, specific surnames of those whom we must return from occupied territories and those whom we must return from Russia", Poroshenko said.

He assured that they do everything possible to return the Ukrainian military illegally detained in the occupied territories, Roman Sushchenko, the Ukrainian journalist, Oleh Sentsov, the Ukrainian movie-maker, Oleksandr Kolchenko, the activist and Crimean Tatars from Russian Federation.
