Dua Lipa hits 1bn views on YouTube with 'New Rules'

She writes, "I picked up the phone and found out I am the youngest female artist to hit 1 BILLION views on a music video #newrules WHAAAAA!"

"New Rules" was released as a single alongside the video last July, and reached 2.3 million views during its first 24 hours.

"New Rules" has over 1,000,000,000 views at the time of writing and was the sixth single that appeared on Dua Lipa's self-titled debut album.

"This is an incredibly attractive moment for Dua and we couldn't be happier to welcome her to YouTube's Billion Views Club", said Lyor Cohen, YouTube's global head of music. "It's been wonderful to watch her journey from sharing covers on YouTube to now being covered by fans across the globe", said YouTube's global head of music, Lyor Cohen.

In another record breaking bout, Lipa recently made BRIT awards history by scoring the most nominations in a single year for a female solo artist.

Other artists that are also in the running for top categories British Artist Video of The Year and British Breakthrough Act include three out of five former members of One Direction: Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Zayn Malik.

Understandably the artist is incredibly pleased and took to Instagram to express her excitement.

In September a year ago, she supported Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic World Tour in North America, and is set to rejoin him for the Australian and New Zealand legs later this month.
