Penn State's James Franklin has hired his 10th assistant coach: David Corley

James Franklin had one final coaching hire to make this offseason and he concluded the process on Friday with the addition of David Corley who will coach the Nittany Lions' running backs.

"David is a dynamic football coach who will be a great fit in our program", Franklin said in a released statement.

In his press conference on December 20, after Penn State had signed 21 players to national letters of intent, Franklin said he told Ricky Slade, a five-star running back that signed with the Nittany Lions, to trust his hiring of the new running backs coach. Ricky Rahne was elevated to offensive coordinator in December and couldn't asked for a much better debut in the Nittany Lions' Fiesta Bowl victory, his first game as the full-time coordinator.

"People I respect in this profession think the world of David and his family and we feel they will be a tremendous addition to our Penn State community".

Corley also served as an assistant coach at CT for three seasons, where his duties included running backs coach, special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach. "I'm looking forward to working with this awesome staff and these outstanding student-athletes".

Corley was introduced as the wide receivers coach at Army last February where he worked under head coach Jeff Monken.

With the Huskies, Corley did a little bit of everything during his three years there, serving as the offensive coordinator and running backs coach and also coaching the special teams and receivers. He served as the quarterbacks coach from 2010-12.

Although Corley didn't coach the running backs at West Point, he has coached the position at other stops during his career. He graduated as the most decorated player in CAA history with 11 all-conference honors in his career. He also played for the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League. Corley, a quarterback, was a four-year starter for the Tribe and broke program records for passing yards, total offense and passing touchdowns. He led William & Mary to the 2001 Atlantic 10 championship and a berth in the NCAA Division I-AA championship.

Corley and his wife, Lindsay, have a daughter, Charlie (7), and son, Bishop (4).
