Dortmund drop Aubameyang again for indiscipline

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left out of the Borussia Dortmund squad for their match against Wolfsburg on Sunday for disciplinary reasons.

The German club confirmed the Gabon striker, who has scored 21 goals in 23 games this season, would miss Sunday's game with Wolfsburg - their first match since the winter break.

"He didn't come and it was an important meeting for team spirit".

"He (Aubameyang) was a bit surprised, he didn't take it so seriously, but for us, the case was clear", added Stoeger. "I do not know, but at the moment it's the transfer period and in this kind of period you try to use the players that are completely focused at being at the club".

Aubameyang has been prolific for Dortmund since signing for the German club in July 2013, scoring 98 top-flight goals.

"We are relatively relaxed".

This is the second time in the current campaign that Aubameyang has been left at home.

Former Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel previously dropped Aubameyang for taking an unsanctioned trip to Milan, and ex-Dortmund coach Peter Bosz dropped him earlier this season for inviting a film crew to the club's facilities and then turning up late for training.

The timing of Aubameyang's latest suspension is especially unfortunate after Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke defended the striker in an interview with daily newspaper Die Welt.
