Investigation into Highway 3 fatal collision continues

A Greenwood man has died after a two-vehicle accident closed Highway 3 for much of the day yesterday.

Sgt. Chad Badry from West Kootenay Traffic Services confirmed that at 7 a.m. Boundary RCMP received a report of a head-on collision on Highway 3, one kilometer east of Midway.

It appears the man, driving a Ford F150 pickup, crossed over the centre line on the highway on a curve in the road.

"An oncoming unloaded Western Star logging truck was unable to avoid the collision resulting in a crash".

The Mounties are now working with the B.C. Coroners' Service to determine the cause of the collision.

Traffic moving through the area was delayed for several hours as an RCMP collision analyst investigated the crash. "Changing road conditions and speed relative to those conditions were likely contributing factors to the collision", the RCMP said in a media release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP's West Kootenay Traffic Services at 250-354-5180.
