Burns survivor Turia Pitt gives birth to baby boy

"We'll be in this little newborn bubble for a few weeks", she wrote.

Inspirational burns survivor Turia Pitt and her husband, Michael Hoskin, have announced the arrival of their baby, a little boy who they've named Hakavai Hoskin.

"We are totally in love, and just so stoked".

"Then I write a list of all the good things - how grateful I am to still be here, to have a attractive partner like Michael, and to get to experience this".

The word Hakavai, is the Shona word for "will be".

Just two days ago, the couple took to Instagram saying, "we're frothing to meet you Baby Hoskin!" .

Pitt suffered 65 per cent burns to her body when she was trapped by a bushfire during the Kimberley ultra marathon in 2011.

She lost seven fingers, endured six months in hospital and spent two years in recovery.

So has the obvious love between Pitt and her "beautiful partner Michael", who has been a devoted partner throughout both her long and painful rehabilitation, and her pregnancy.

'Yeah, of course, with any big change approaching, there's a certain element of uncertainty. And when you know that you're going to experience pain, that can be pretty scary.

"I write a list of all the bad things that could happen - it's going to hurt, I don't know if I can do it, what if I can't handle the pain", she said.

"Then I write a list of all the good things - how grateful I am to still be here, to have a handsome partner like Michael, and to get to experience this".

"I'm not nervous, I'm ready for it", she said.

'How cool it will be to meet my son.

"He had to look after me for years, and he was so patient, so caring".

"If I look at it in the empowering way, I feel better - so that's the way I choose", she wrote.
