Veterans Day in Knox County

Veterans Day is an official United States holiday that honors people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, also known as veterans. Veterans Day is a remembrance day for all of the soldiers that have risked or lost their lives serving for our country.

Tip: although flu vaccine may be given through the winter months and still be beneficial, peak benefit occurs if it is given before Veterans Day. There are no living veterans from World War I, but there are more than 16 million living veterans who served during at least one war, plus 6 million who served in peacetime. In World War I, 116,708 American soldiers died.

Saturday, Nov. 11, was Veterans Day. President Woodrow Wilson noted November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. This is the day that marked the end of the Great War.
