Neighbour rapes 6-year-old in outer Delhi, held

In yet another horrific incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her caretaker and his friend in south Delhi, the police said on Monday. "Her mother and siblings also left and finding the child alone, the man sexually assaulted her", said a senior police officer.

When the mother of the baby found her crying after the neighbour had come, she took her to a nearby hospital, where she discovered that her child had been sexually assaulted. The accused lived on the first floor of the same building.Confirming the incident, DCP (outer) MN Tiwari said that the 23-year-old accused has been arrested and booked for rape and under POCSO Act.

"The accused, Santosh, was arrested from the area".

She immediately took her to a hospital, where the doctors confirmed that the child was raped.

"My wife called me and told me to rush home". She is, however, in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as per protocol in instances of sexual assault on those falling in her age bracket.

The police quoted the parents alleging that their daughter had been "acting strangely" over the last 10 days, which added to their suspicions.

Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal went to the hospital to meet the victim and demanded that of Home Minister Rajnath Singh meet the child as well. Maliwal and some other DCW members were detained and taken to the Mandir Marg police station, before being released. I am speechless, devastated.
