Man shot while trying to enter Hindon IAF base

A man trying to sneak into the Hindon Air Force Station at Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district by attempting to scale the high-security walls was shot at and injured by the security forces on Tuesday late evening.

He has been admitted to hospital for treatment.

The suspect has been identified as Sujeet belongs to Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. The IAF intelligence wing and the police are questioning him to see if he had any terror links. "I didn't have anything to eat and just wanted to sit there, won't do it again", Kumar, a resident of Delhi's Anand Vihar, said. He was preparing "to take a ride" on one of the planes at the air base, he said.

The alert says that the Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorists numbering 7 are planning an early morning strike on the base.

Sujeet was first spotted around the Hindon airbase at around 10.30 pm on Tuesday.

He then tried to enter through Gate No. 1 where he was again noticed by the security personnel.

"His mobile phone is being screened".

When the security personnel stopped him, he started scaling the boundary wall and refused to give up despite several warnings. Call details are being fetched. Senior superintendent of police HN Singh Kumar was being questioned.
