Lonzo Ball misses another game due to ankle sprain

In the second preseason game against the Denver Nuggets, Lonzo Ball suffered a mild left sprained ankle. He did not practice on Monday or participate in shootaround on Tuesday morning.

Head coach Luke Walton also voiced a similar sentiment on Thursday by voicing that he doesn't envision Ball taking the court for the last tune-up before the start of the regular season. He stated following practice that he still felt a bit of discomfort from his ankle and is unsure if he will able to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The No. 2 overall pick, who recorded the first two triple-doubles in Vegas Summer League history, posted five points, eight assists and seven rebounds in his only full game this preseason. With the Lakers wanting to push the pace and utilize Ball's greatest strengths, Los Angeles will need to show their ability to defend at a relatively high level in order to create fastbreak opportunities. Ball suffered the injury on October 2 against the Denver Nuggets.

With six days before the season opener on October 19, the hope is Ball will make his NBA debut and officially usher in a new era of Lakers basketball. He was previously the beat writer for LA Rams Report for Scout.com, which is a website dedicated to covering the Rams.
