BJP Alwar MP Mahant Chandnath Passes Away at 61

An Apollo Hospital source said, "He was admitted on September 13 and died today at 12.40 a.m".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condoled the demise of Lok Sabha MP Mahant Chand Nath.

Adityanath he said that Chandnath will be remembered for his rich social work. He was suffering from cancer and was 61 years old.

"We had conducted tracheostomy. My deepest condolences", Modi said in a tweet. Yesterday, he was doing fine during the daytime, but his condition deteriorated at night and he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The doctor said Nath survived longer only because he was "mentally tough" and "very positive".

In 2014, he defeated Jitendra Singh of the Congress to became a MP from Alwar.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also expressed condolences to the bereaved family members, saying it is an irreparable loss to to her and the entire BJP family. On behalf of 22 crore Uttar Pradesh people, I pay homage to MP Mahant Chandnath who will be remembered for his contribution for the developmental works.

Nath was also the Chancellor of Baba Mast Nath University in Rohtak. His funeral services would be held today.
