Hizbul commander killed in encounter

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today paid tribute to the two Army jawans killed in an encounter with militants in Shopian district, an official spokesman said here.

Earlier in the day, a joint cordon and search operation was conducted by the security forces, which were well planned as we trapped three terrorists in that area.

According to reports, security forces have blasted four houses so far during the operation in Zainapora area of Awneera which stared in the wee hours of Sunday. The defence ministry has given a go-ahead to a proposal suggesting a requirement of 544 robots, army officials said.

"The injured soldiers have been shifted to hospital".

At least two to three terrorists are suspected to have been trapped in the area. The killed army men were identified as Sepoy Gawai Sumedh Waman, 25, and Sepoy Ilayaraja P, also 25 years-old. Among the injured, two army personnel succumbed to their injuries.

This is the second civilian killing of the day soon after the clashes erupted over the death of a Hizb Commander Mohammad Yasin Itoo.

Three Kashmiri youth were martyred in Indian occupied Kashmir's (IoK) Shopian district on Sunday, the Kashmir Media Service (KSM) reported.
