Amid another historically awful weekend, Bruno Mars is here with a badly-needed gesture of kindness, announcing during his Saturday night show in suburban MI that he'd be donating $1 million to the Flint water crisis.

Flint's drinking water has been switched back to Detroit water, but the exposure to tainted water has been linked to a rise in Legionnaires' disease, while doctors are also concerned children exposed could face developmental disorders and behavioural issues.

The Grammy-winning star told the audience at his show in Auburn Hills that he and tour promoter Live Nation are redirecting funds from the show to the charity The Community Foundation of Greater Flint.

Families continue to face the physical, developmental and psychological effects of the lead poisoning, especially among the children of Flint.

"[Bruno Mars] understands the issues faced by Flint citizens, and we are touched by his concern and generosity", he continued.
