Arsenal tell Premier League duo to pay £20m for Perez

Magpies boss Rafael Benitez had been keen to bring the 28-year-old to St. James' Park but may now need to look elsewhere as the Gunners will not sell for anything less than £20 million.

The report claims that the Gunners paid £17m in order to secure the services of the Spanish forward from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2016. Netting 17 goals in 36 games in the 2015/16 La Liga campaign, he helped his side avoid relegation and caught the attention of many top clubs across Europe.

Which deals are most likely to be done this summer, according to the bookies?

Arsene Wenger has admitted there is now "too much competition" at the Emirates in the forward positions following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette, and that Perez will be allowed to leave the club before the window closes. Wilshere himself has proven to be Premier League quality and is only being allowed to leave Arsenal due to his injury record, while Perez could still come good in the Premier League after a fine scoring record in Spain.

Arsenal's valuation of Perez may mean that the Magpies choose to step up their interest in alternatives and Benitez will hope that he can inject fresh impetus into his attacking options before his team travel to fellow Premier League newcomers Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
