Young fails to make the cut in Canada

Young hasn't made an appearance on a football field since 2013, and even that was just a preseason game for the Green Bay Packers.

On Saturday, the 34-year-old former National Football League quarterback's agent announced on Twitter that the Saskatchewan Roughriders waived Young after he injured his hamstring in training camp.

But Young suffered a torn hamstring during training camp.

Leigh Steinberg, Young's agent, announced the release Saturday on Twitter. He was due to be out four-to-six weeks.

Young, 34, signed a two-year contract with a second-year option with the Roughriders in March.

The former Pro Bowl quarterback hasn't played in a regular-season game since 2011 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is a former star with the University of Texas Longhorns and the NFL's Tennessee Titans.

While the Riders have until 8 o'clock to officially announce their cuts, some have gone to social media to say they are no longer with the team. However, that timeline coincides poorly with the Roughriders' season opener on June 22.
