Twitch Prime subscribers are getting free Overwatch loot boxes

Twitch streamers can expect coverage from the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship, StarCraft II World Championship Series, Hearthstone Championship Tour, Hearthstone Global Games, World of Warcraft Arena Championship, Overwatch APEX League, and the Overwatch Premiere Series.

We're already seen Blizzard offer Twitch Prime members content before, specifically with the Tyrande hero portrait for Hearthstone.

Ten more free Overwatch loot boxes will be given to Twitch Prime members over the coming months.

Blizzard games are among the most viewed on Twitch. If you don't have an Amazon Prime account, you can register for a free trial (just keep in mind to cancel your subscription afterward). Twitch Prime offers ad-free viewing and game content promotions like this. Additionally, as part of the deal with Blizzard, Twitch will be offering in-game loot for Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone for Twitch Prime subscribers, starting with a Golden Loot Box in Overwatch that guarantees a legendary item.

The two are also partnering on Overwatch loot boxes tied into people who are Twitch Prime members, as explained below. The Golden Loot Box is guaranteed to contain at least one legendary, though they won't be from any seasonal events.

"We founded Twitch as a gaming platform heavily based on our community's reaction to games like Blizzard's StarCraft II", said Kevin Lin, chief operating officer of Twitch, in a press release sent to GamesBeat.

Twitch Prime has proven to be invaluable to those who frequent the streaming site, giving players free content in games like Smite, and even sometimes giving away full games as a bonus.

With this agreement in place, the major streaming platform is set to broadcast Blizzard eSports events featuring Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft, Star Craft 2, and Overwatch through 2018. Get the news you can use.
