Xiaomi's flagship Mi 6, Mi 6 Ceramic launched in China

So which smartphone is the best? At an event in Beijing, the company took the wraps off its own flagship handset, and it clearly has the S8 in its sights.

Much like its two predecessors, the Mi 6 is sticking with the relatively humble 5.15-inch 1080p display spec, which is good news for those who prefer something more ergonomic.

This devices measures 145.17×70.49×7.45 mm and weighs around 168 gm. The ceramic model comes in at 182 grams.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is made out of metal and glass, beside the artistic model. The smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner within the home button. However, with the new leaks of the picture of the device the phone is looking stunning in the golden color coating. Now there's a Midnight Black Limited Edition variant in the market as well. OnePlus 3T is not certified for water and dust resistance. The Mi 6 sports front-firing dual speakers. It joins Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Sony's XZ Premium as the only phones to date to use a Snapdragon 835 chip. That aside, processing load is easily handled by 6GB of RAM (DDR4X 64 bit dual-channel memory) and an Adreno 540 GPU. The Xiaomi Mi 6 doesn't only look great, it is also quite powerful.

The Mi 6 features two 12MP cameras on the back, one with a wide-angle lens for casual snaps and the other with a telephoto lens for when you need to zoom in. Mi 6 also comes with four-axis OIS so images and videos remain sharp, reducing the effect of handshake or motion. Up front, the smartphone packs an 8-megapixel camera.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is no exception with its smooth styling, iPhone-like appearance and super-slim bezels. For a Snnapdragon 835 smartphone, that's as best a bargain as you can get. But it gets a special mention here, because the company has taken extra steps in order to provide battery-saving features such as freezing background data, closing those troublesome apps which start spontaneously as well as spreading out the battery power across the phone efficiently enough, to last about a day.

Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with four-sided 3D glass design with rounded corners which makes the phone look more superior. The Ceramic Edition will only be available with 128GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM.

There's also no headphone jack, a la the iPhone 7 and other recent Android phones.

On the audio side, it's worth noting that Xiaomi chose to ditch the headphone jack for the Mi 6, with the reason being it wanted to offer a cleaner look (ugh), which is why you'll find a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter in the box.

The smartphone also offer 2×2 dual Wi-Fi technology which increase connectivity and speed.

The 64GB version of the Mi 6 will be sold at RMB 2,499 and not 2,199 as we were hoping. Both phones run Android Nougat OS with their respective user interface skins atop.

As far as the price is concerned, the Mi 6 with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at 2499 Yuan ( Rs. 23,500, $362). All this is available for just 2,899 Yuan or $421.
