Trump on the right track with this executive order

Trump is heading Tuesday to Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he plans to sign an order dubbed "Buy American, Hire American", said administration officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity despite the president's frequent criticism of the use of anonymous sources.

According to the executive order signed by Trump, the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, the Secretary of Labour, and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall suggest reforms to help ensure that H-1B visas are awarded to the most-skilled or highest-paid petition beneficiaries.

On the planned order by Trump, Ronil Hira, a professor in public policy at Howard University and a critic of the H-1B program, said, "It's better than nothing".

Trump carried Wisconsin in November by almost 23,000 votes - less than 1 percentage point - making him the first Republican to win the state since 1984. Trump now has only a 41 percent approval rating in the state. Trump is keeping a campaign promise, and, after a week of flip-flops on the Export-Import Bank and China's alleged currency manipulation, sending a message to his working class supporters in places such as Wisconsin that he hasn't forgotten them.

But Trump returned to Tuesday to the economic tough talk of his campaign, saying: "We're going to make some very big changes or we are going to get rid of NAFTA for once and for all", referring to the Clinton-era USA trade pact with Canada and Mexico.

President Donald Trump says he agrees "100 percent" with a proposal from Democratic U.S. Sen. The order was short on detail, and does not change any current rules. But an H-1B review is overdue.

As mandated by the Congress, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) every year issues 65,000 H-1B visas and another 20,000 to those applicants having masters and higher degrees from a US educational institution. Tammy Baldwin that would increase requirements to use American-made products in certain construction projects. The visit also would take him to the congressional district of House Speaker Paul Ryan, who won't be joining the president because he's on a bipartisan congressional trip visiting North Atlantic Treaty Organisation countries.

During his remarks, Trump weighed in on another economic issue, promising to find a solution to a trade dispute with Canada that has left dairy farmers in Wisconsin and NY without a market they had for a product called ultra-filtered milk, a protein liquid concentrate used to make cheese.

During his campaign, Trump said at some point that he supported high-skilled visas, then came out against them.

Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., urged Trump to skip further study and support her bill to rebuild US infrastructure with American iron and steel.

Immigrant workers of various skill sets provide necessary and vital contributions to the US, including as small business owners who create jobs in the USA economy. Many Trump-branded products, like clothing, are made overseas. He called it "very depressing".
