"I was hitting the ball better today than I was when I injured myself, so that was a lot of fun", Johnson told the Huffington Post yesterday.

Johnson injured his back and left elbow when he fell down a flight of stairs in his rented home in Augusta, the afternoon before the opening round of the Masters.

It was a huge disappointment for the United States star, who is in the form of his life and had won his three previous starts heading to Augusta.

There's probably never a "good time" to get hurt, but this was especially disappointing for Johnson who had just won in three consecutive starts and was in in peak form for the season's first major.

"It's still a little bit bruised", Johnson said in a phone interview. It's a little tight, but I can swing just fine.

Johnson, the world's No. 1 player, said last week he'll play in the Wells Fargo Championships at Eagle Point Golf Club from May 4-7. I was hitting it very well. "Hardly any issues. I would say it's about 85, 90%".

Johnson told Marksbury he laid on the couch and watched the Masters, but, "I didn't like watching though. Today was good. I hit balls all the way through driver and I was fine, so that was very reassuring". I just kind of took it easy, just been training a little bit, taking care of it so I won't have any issues. "That's one thing I don't want to do anymore".
