Victim identified in St. Paul officer-involved shooting

Three officers were called to an apartment building in St. Paul's Dayton's Bluff neighborhood about 2:30 a.m. because of a domestic situation that involved physical violence, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said.

St. Paul police officers responding to a report of a violent domestic situation fatally shot a Chicago-area man on Wednesday, authorities said.

"When officers arrived, they encountered an adult male in the street near the intersection of East Seventh and Sinnen streets".

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say police officers were involved in the shooting, but provided no further details.

A firearm was recovered outside of the apartment building on East 6th Street and spent shell casings were found inside the apartment. The BCA says they will identify the officers and release additional information about the shooting at a later date.

The BCA has taken over the investigation. Once complete, it will turn its findings over to the Ramsey County Attorney's office for review.
