NBA Predictions: Will Wizards struggle to cover vs. Celtics again? 3/20/17

The Celtics are 2-4 in the games that Thomas has missed this season and average 100.8 points per game while shooting 42.9 percent when he's not available. That helped Boston pick up right where they left off in the first half as they blew the game open to a 74-54 lead at one point in the third quarter. The Celtics now have a 2.5 game cushion over the Wizards for second place in the East, and they only trail the Cavaliers by 2.0 games. It's possible IT4 could get another DNP-rest down the stretch, but the good news for his fantasy owners is that the Celtics play three more times this week.

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (42-27): John Wall was one of many who struggled to find the mark in Saturday's loss, making 5-of-16 from the field in his second straight hard offensive effort since suffering a foot injury Wednesday against Dallas.

Isaiah Thomas scored 25 points after missing the previous two games with a bruised right knee, leading the Celtics to a 110-102 victory over the Wizards in another testy matchup Monday night between two of the top teams in the East. "They've got a couple of guys that play very physical". According to the performance between these two sides, both of them are playing well in this National Basketball Association season. Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley will be huge defensively against John Wall and Bradley Beal. Crowder pointed his finger in Wall's face, and Wall slapped at him.

Finishing the half in front the Celtics led the Wizards at the halftime break 58-47 after a strong half of good all-around team play. Bojan Bogdanovic and Markieff Morris had 14 points apiece. Thomas ignited Boston's third-quarter offense with 12 points, while Crowder contributed six of his own.

The Boston Celtics had also faced their last game lose over Philadelphia 76ers 105-99 on Sunday afternoon after three consecutive wins. The doors are about 15 feet apart with a black curtain in the middle.

The Boston Celtics are now the second seed and they have become one of the Wizards biggest rivals. "We have to make sure that we utilize this time appropriately for our team to get better".

"Maybe the players would say different", Stevens said, "but I don't feel any different".

Standout play from the starting linuep, who saw extra minutes in this all-important contest, allowed Boston to overcome the Wizards' attempt to move up the standings. Less than two weeks before the "funeral" game, during a 117-108 Celtics win on January 11, some trash talk led to Wall giving a light slap at the face of Celtics forward Jae Crowder, who had to be restrained from physically responding.

Celtics: Host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.
