Man arrested over theft of charity box for cancer sufferer Bradley Lowery

A man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a charity box intending to raise money for five-year-old cancer sufferer Bradley Lowery.

The money collected was going towards the Bradley Lowery Foundation, which was set up to help the five-year-old Sunderland fan, who has neuroblastoma.

The suspect is accused of taking the box from the Lunch Box shop in Peterlee on 19 March.

This morning, Durham Police tweeted a picture of the money inside a transparent evidence bag with the words: "We have got your money back mate!" "@Bradleysfight. Keep fighting buddy".

The Durham Police tweet also said a man has been arrested.

In July 2016 he relapsed, and his family is now raising money to send him overseas for specialist treatment not available in the UK.
