Chuck Berry's Final Album to Be Released This Week

Friend Joe Edwards says he's heard the new album Berry announced in October.

After his passing on Saturday (18 March), the internet has been speculating over whether his fifth, and final, album was still going to be released.

This was only one of the numerous tributes payed to Chuck Berry over the last couple of days.

Now, Chuck Berry's family and record label is working to release his last collection of songs.

"This record is dedicated to my beloved [wife] Toddy", Berry said at the time the album was announced. Now I can hang up my shoes!'

"Inside the home, first responders observed an unresponsive man and immediately administered lifesaving techniques", read the report. PEOPLE's calls to the St. Charles Country Police Department and the St. Louis County Medical Examiner's office were not immediately returned. Attempts to resuscitate the 90-year-old legend were unsuccessful. "The family requests privacy during this time of bereavement". The significance of "Johnny B. Goode" was acknowledged when the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 for its influence as a rock and roll single.

The success of "Johnny B. Goode" inspired Berry's followup songs "Bye Bye Johnny" and "Go Go Go", as well as his 1969 album Concerto in B. Goode and its almost 19-minute title track. He redefined a genre and paved the way for other giants within the industry like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton.
