Pitt to name Heather Lyke athletic director

Pitt has found its replacement for Scott Barnes, and it's Heather Lyke.

The University of Pittsburgh on Monday announced Heather Lyke as its new athletic director.

Lyke arrived at Ypsilanti in July of 2013 and has pushed for athletic support from students and alumni throughout her tenure at EMU. On the field, she oversaw the program's football team appear in a bowl game for the first time in the past 29 seasons previous year. In 2016, the program won the National Championship for Excellence in Management.

Lyke also spent a lot of time trying to make Rynearson Stadium, where EMU plays its home football games, more appealing for fans, from facilities upgrades to rebranding.

A native of Ohio who attended MI on a softball scholarship, Lyke has spent the bulk of her professional life at Ohio State, where she worked in the Athletic Department for 16 years. "She is the flawless person to lead our Department of Athletics into a new era of excellence, and I am thrilled to welcome her and her family to Pitt".
