Dem Rep Schiff Claims 'Circumstantial Evidence of Collusion' Between Trump Campaign, Russia

President Trump is facing calls to retract and apologize for his sensational claim that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower past year. "The president frankly ought to acknowledge that a mistake was made, apologize to President Obama and move on".

"I don't get it, and I don't think America gets it, as to why the president continues to defend his statements here", he said. But the Trump administration hasn't distanced itself from the president's remarks that Obama wiretapped Trump Tower phones in October.

The former CIA agent also said Russia's meddling in the 2016 election "will go down in the history of Mother Russia as the great covert action - not because Trump won, but because it created a wedge, real or perceived, between the White House, the intelligence community, and the American public".

In a Monday morning tweet, Trump blamed Democrats for the investigation into his contacts and said the House intelligence committee should be focus on investigating leaks.

Comey and Mike Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, say they have no evidence or intelligence that Russian cyber actors changed vote tallies in key states during last year's presidential election.

"I don't think there's any evidence at all to substantiate that and I would not be surprised if Director Comey, today, basically says as much", Panetta said Monday.
